PROVIDING BASIC HEALTH WELL CHECK
During the EHCL sponsored GHAPO free grassroots screening, a total of 80 persons were assessed using the variables age, blood pressure, pulse rate and packed cell volume. Of these 31.25% were women.
Due to the small sample size it is difficult to make any conclusive statements, but despite this the study was able to support common prevailing and accepted conclusions made from previous researches. The study supports the understanding that hypertension occurrences increases with age.
The study also supported previous research data retrieved by a larger sample size of 6000 people in Lagos Nigeria that shows that most Nigerians are anemic which as expected is lower in women.
Suggested Interventions:
Educating Nigerian women on causes of prevailing anemia, consequences and health practices that can counteract this prevalence and thus improve health and life expectancy
